Anctil History
We've been keeping Portland families and businesses comfortable since 1976, when Paul Anctil, a skilled metal worker taught by his own father, bought Lahodny Sheet Metal. Paul wanted the shop to be a family-run business, and saw no better way to demonstrate that than to give it the family name.
Anctil Heating and Cooling (then Anctil Sheet Metal) has been run the same way ever since, although the name itself has twisted a few tongues over the years. We've used the name's challenging pronunciation to our advantage, adopting the slogan "Hard to say, easy to work with" as our tagline.
In those first few years we mostly produced gutters, downspouts, flashings, and custom sheet metal products. In 1978, Paul expanded the business to include heating and air conditioning systems, while also bringing in his son Tom to learn the business from the ground up. Tom took over in 1989, running the business for 22 years before his nephew (Mark) purchased the company in 2011.
We've learned a lot since installing those first few furnaces. We’ve grown into one of Portland's most trusted heating and cooling specialists. We remain committed to ongoing education - ensuring that our technicians are always at the forefront of service quality and industry knowledge. We balance this know-how with a friendly, people-first approach that's been delighting customers since the day we opened.
